|
|
so i was involved in a motorcylcle accident approx 3 days ago. fortunately no bones were broken, and no head trauma.....i did however get lots of road rash, and have skin missing off a fairly large portion of my laft arm, right hnd is skinned, and left knee had 2 large fiction burns.
while at the hospotil the cleaned my wounds, they of couse charged me and then pushed me out the door.
obviously im in a bit of shock. the accident had happened just 2-3 hours earlier. the drs treated me lik crap (i did have a friend there to help translate...which didnt seem to help)...they were rough and so on.
so i went to another hospitol a day or 2 later. by this time im in exrucuiting pain. the drs told me that if it hurts then to take tylenon. now maybe the states have made us a little soft when if come to dealing with pain, but tylenon or ibuprofen as a pain killer for an accident feels not right.
i know there issue with opiates....and am trying to respect this custom, but i am in serious pain. one dr said i will give you one codeine. what is that going to do? one codeine for weeks of pain?
so what are your recommendations? is this just tha way it is? i have a few tattoos.....and im a foreigned is this just a cultural bias? im in ulsan, is it a smaller town mentality (i know ulsan is by no means small....but its not a huge city)
what are your thoughts. its been going om the 4th day. i cant sleep, i have no appetite. tramadal, and ultracet have no history effecect on me.
what should i do. this is be comming rediculous. why if i am REALLY in pain will nobody helop me? should i go to seoul or busan or something to see if a clinics there would would be more helpful?
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. |

Were you hit by someone?
If so, maybe you shouldn't have left. |

If you were not at fault, then go to the best hospital and get the best treatment. Charge it all to the jerk's insurance. |

Just go to a different hospital. Hospitals can vary a great deal in their treatment. Some are extremely rude, while others can treat you like a king.
Trust me. Unfortunately, i'm not in Ulsan so i can't help you find a good one, , it's hit or miss like almost everything here. |

A head's up: Check the areas around your wounds a few times each day the next while to make sure you don't get blood poisoning/infection from any missed road crud left lodged in your body.
If you notice any of the veins in your arms/hands/legs near or leading away from the injury sites that are very red and angry looking, (like a red stripe) go back to the hospital RIGHT AWAY. Do not let that stuff slide. |

Pain killers make the pain appear blurry in your mind and therefore harder to block. |

i have been 2 both of the hospiti=ols in my area, and they both treat me like crap. i may bus out to busan and hope for someting better. i just want to be comfortable. its been a while.

I'm not to impressed with the anti-American statement in the OP but I'm also curious as to how can you get road rash that bad if you are wearing body armour and armoured gloves?

I'm guessing they have you on some pretty high level tylenol. Tylenol comes in super strong formulaes which are very different from the over the counter stuff you can find in a pharmacy back in Canada. Pain killers can be very addictive things, and in my experience Korean doctors over prescribe rather than under prescribe. Your going to feel some pain after losing skin, but if you are seriously feeling ridiculous amounts of pain then go back to the hospital and explain your problem. Maybe it's best to go with a different friend since there is the chance that a few things were lost in translation. |
