I was on Youtube for hours watching the wonders of the Dear Leader last night. Wow, what an incredible man! LOL.

He's like a cartoon character. I have fantasies about storming through the DMZ, finding him, and just poking him in the belly until he pops like a balloon, sending congnac and lobster tails flying all over the peninsula.

Care to back up those statements? I'm sure you could read a lot of things in a lot of places about Kim Jong Il, but what do we really know? Very little.

"Care to back up those statements?"

Wow, a little defensive?

As I said. I read it in a couple of different places. I will expand and say that I think it was 1-3 years ago. Source? I have no recollection.

If I had made the statement, "Kim Jong Il is a pervert." like it was first hand knowledge, then there would be something to jump on. My post was clear that my knowledge was hearsay. "I read that...."

This from google....
"How reassuring: N. Korean dictator Kim Jong-il likes scotch, James Bond movies, Daffy Duck, fast cars, and apparently under-age girl sex-slaves, according to Fox News. "

Yeah yeah, I know Fox news is definitely not the most credible news source, but it was the first relevant thing I saw on google.
I think you should write to Fox news also and ask them to back up their statement ...

Your other point though is taken. We really don't know diddly about him. Shoot, we didn't even know about Clinton, or Foley, or anybody else....until they got caught... (no, not lumping Clinton in with perverts, just an example of a very public figure who we knew little about)

Defensive? I don't think so. I've no reason to defend such a brutal and controlling dictator. But, I think we should be more careful about saying things about people that we can't really back-up. As you stated, FOX News is probably not a good example of a reputable source.

Kim had a reputation as a hard-partying playboy as a young man -- and reportedly still has an eye for the ladies.

"He recruited attractive young girls of junior high school age to take part in 'Joy Brigades,' whose function was to help in relaxation to his senior officials," said Jerrold Post, a former CIA profiler.

http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/asiapcf/06/22/nkorea.kim/index.html

During a banquet one night a group of five dancers in the entertainment entourage were performing a disco dance. Suddenly Kim Jong Il ordered, "Take off your clothes!" The girls took off their clothes, but then Kim told them to take it all off. They seemed surprised and could not hide their bewilderment, but they could not object to their Dear Leader's orders. In awkward embarrassment they stripped down and continued their performance in the nude.

After a while he turned to his cabinet staff members and instructed them, "You guys dance with them too." And soon enough I, too, was ordered to dance. However, he cautioned us, "You'll dance, but you won't touch. If you touch, you're thieves." In other words, I think Kim Jong Il felt these girls were like his own daughters.

Pleasure Team

In order to please Kim Jong-il and his close associates, North Korea maintains a group of pleasure women, called the pleasure team at each specially prepared villa. The existence of the team was revealed to the outside world in the 1980s, when North Korea abducted a number of young women from Hong Kong, Maccao and Middle East countries in order to reinforce the pleasure team."

The pleasure team is again broken down into a "satisfaction team," which performs the duty of providing sexual pleasure, a "happiness team," which conducts a massage service, and a "dancing team," which conducts and singing and dancing performances.

The 5th Section of the Party Organization and Guidance Department is responsible for recruiting members of this pleasure team. Annually the section orders its branch offices in provincial and city Party chapters to select a certain number of beautiful candidates from among female students attending senior high schools. The number of candidates is 100 times the required number of new members. About one tenth of these first-hand candidates will be sent to the Namsan Medical Clinic located at Munsu-dong in Pyongyang for a physical examination, and then from among them 50 will be sent to the Secretary's Office of Kim Jong-il for a final examination.

The candidates will undergo about 6 months of technical training, in accordance with their specialties decided by the Party authorities, before they are given chances to make a two- week observation tour abroad.

Upon completion of the above-mentioned course, they are commissioned 1st Lieutenant of the People's Army. They serve until they become 25 years old.

The guidelines for selecting the candidates are given in a document distributed to local Party chapters and classified as confidential. The document has headings which read, "the project designed to help Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il enjoy longevity is a holy duty all Party members must abide by." Under the guidelines, responsible secretaries of primary Party chapters in counties and cities always keep an eye on prospective candidates in their responsible areas so that they can recommend at least one candidate to their higher chapters whenever they are ordered to do so. Therefore, local Party officials make visits to senior high schools at the beginning of a new term to sort out the candidates. After sorting out the candidates, they do not forget to order the officials in the school Party chapter to take care of the candidates.

Gippeumjo

Gippeumjo
Chosŏn'gŭl:
기쁨조
Hanja:
기쁨組
McCune-Reischauer: Kippŭmcho
Revised Romanization: Gippeumjo

The Gippeumjo (translated variously as "Pleasure Group," "Pleasure Groups," "Pleasure Squad," "Pleasure Brigade," "Joy Brigades," or "Joy Brigade") is a collection of groups of approximately 2,000 women between the ages of 13 and 40 (although most are believed to be between 18 and 25), which are maintained by the head of state of North Korea for the purpose of providing pleasure and entertainment for high-ranking Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) officials and their families, as well as occasionally also distinguished guests.

Little is known outside North Korea about the Gippeumjo, but information has gradually emerged through the testimony of North Koreans who have defected to the West.

[edit] History

The Gippeumjo was established in 1978, during the administration of Kim Il-sung, with the first group being recruited by Lee Dong Ho, the First Vice Director of the Department of United Front of the WPK, for the purpose of entertaining Kim at the Munsu Chodaeso (문수 초대소; Munsu Guesthouse). The recruiting and training of Gippeumjo are currently administered by the Fifth Department of Staff of the Organic Direction of the Party and continues to be maintained by his son, Kim Jong-il.[1]

[edit] Structure

Each "pleasure group" is composed of three "teams":

1. Manjokjo (hangul: 만족조; hanja: 滿足組) a "satisfaction team" (which provides sexual services)
2. Haengbokjo (hangul: 행복조; hanja: 幸福組) a "happiness team" (which provides massages)
3. Gamujo (hangul: 가무조; hanja: 歌舞組) a "dancing and singing team" (whose members are sometimes asked to dance semi-nude)[1][2]

Girls from throughout the country are recruited to be Gippeumjo members according to government criteria (one of which is that they must be virgins). After being selected, they undergo a rigorous training period, with some Haengbokjo members being sent overseas for massage training.[1] Gippeumjo members typically "retire" at age 22 or 25, at which time they are often married to other members of North Korea's elite, and their former membership in the Gippeumjo is kept secret.[1][3]

[edit] Etymology

The first two syllables of the name, gippeum, means joy in Korean. Kim Il-sung is believed to have established this corps of women in the belief that having sexual relations with young women would have the effect of enhancing his life force, or gi (hangul: 기; hanja: 氣; no relation to the gi in gippeum).[3]
