Can someone please give me some idea of what the cost of visiting one of the English speaking doctors in Seoul would be, with Korean Health Insurance? I will probably need to see a doctor in the next few days and just need some idea of the likely cost. How easy is it to make an appointment? I live outside of Seoul but I am going to need to travel into Seoul to find an English speaking doctor.

Check out the International Clinic in Itaewon. Cost? Not much. Like, usually under 10 bucks. If he runs tests it'll be more.

www.internationalclinic.co.kr.

You can book an appointment on line and they are open Saturdays.

And guaranteed he'll run tests. He's also got his own X-ray machine and developer on the premises... Ka-ching!

A regular doctor in a KOREAN hospital / clinic that speaks English will charge you 3000 won for a basic visit. Most places are simply walk in - no appointment necessary. I have certainly never made an appointment to see a doctor in Korea.

The International Clinic(s) will charge you 3 times more for EVERYTHING. Go to the Severance hospital and pay Korea prices. Cross the hall to the International clinic at the Severance hospital and you will pay 3 times more for the SAME service.

Most doctors in Korea can speak medical English and LOTS of them have excellent English.

Depending on the complexity of your problem, you will probably be fine in one of the smaller hospitals. If they can't help you because of the language barrier they can certainly refer to a doctor close to home who can take care of you AND speaks English.

The front desk staff may not speak English, but simply present your medical booklet and they will take care of the rest.

What he said.

I live in a small town and both the doctor and the dentist I have visited spoke decent English. VERY cheap.

And that has also been my experience.
