My wife and I are leaving for Canada at the end of the year and we're considering leaving our cat behind. We're looking for a good, stable home for him.

I'm hoping to find a Korean person or family, as they're unlikely to leave Korea anytime soon, with cat experience that may be interested in taking on another cat. I realize how unlikely it is, but I have to ask.

If anyone knows of someone who may be interested, please reply here or send a PM. I will reply with more details about our cat, and we can see where we can go from there.

Thanks

I guess we can forget about finding Korean families Smile But, if there are any stable foreigners living in Korea that would be interested in taking a cat, please read on...

Our cat's name is Popo. He is about 3 years old. We've had him since he was a baby. He's been neutered and has all his shots.

Deciding to give him away has been really hard, but it's just too crowded living in our small apartment together now that we have our newborn son with us.

Those interested should know that it will likely take a week or two for him to get used to you. During that time he'll just hide somewhere.

Whenever he's met someone new, he's been wary at first, but he warms up pretty quickly. He actually sneaked out of our apartment a few times to visit our neighbors, whom he knew pretty well.

You'll need to have a lot of patience, but he may surprise you one day when you wake up to find that he was sleeping next to your pillow or at your feet. During the winter time, he'll like to sleep with you a lot if given the chance.

Preparing a private box near a window would help him adjust. He'll need a place to hide and feel secure. Once he finally does adjust, he's the greatest. He likes to be in the same room as us, and loves to look out windows. His favorite toy is a little laser pen we bought not long ago. Watching him chase that around is better than watching a movie.

Popo is very good natured. He's never bitten or scratched us to hurt. Of course, he sometimes likes to play bite and scratch, but always stops immediately if you show him that he's hurting you.

He doesn't rub me too much, but he loves to massage my leg or my shoulder. He may do the same with you.

There are a few words he knows:

"Yummy-yummy" means he's getting a treat of some kind. Usually soft can food. He'll get really excited if you say that.

"Jerry" is code for his little red laser pen - named after Jerry of Tom and Jerry fame. Jerry always "comes out" of the same space next to our refrigerator, and whenever we say his name, Popo runs right to that hole.

"Toy-toy" is anything small that he can play with. Usually we give him a small crumpled up piece of paper or a twist tie. Just throw it for him and he will smack it around for about an hour or so.

We'd appreciate staying in touch with Popo's new owner(s) as well. We'll answer any and all questions; nothing will be a bother.

Preference will be given to those with cats or cat experience. Popo's been pretty lonely now that we have to give so much attention to our son. We'd feel so much better if he went to a home that would give him the attention and care he deserves.

Please reply here or send me a PM. I'll post again soon with some pictures.

Thanks.
