"Representative Choi Yeon-hee was saved from political oblivion yesterday when an appeals court reduced his sentence for sexually harassing a female newspaper reporter during a drinking party to a suspended fine, thus helping him to keep his National Assembly seat.
.... After the initial trial, the victim accepted Chois apology, so the legal ground to punish him was largely reduced, the court said in the ruling."
I'm going to start enjoying myself a lot more here. Thank God "Sorry" works in Konglish, too. |

I was reading lawyers here just study to pass tests and then study to pass the test to be judges. One doesn't even have to go to law school. And law school doesn't really teach critical thinking. I think President Roh was a judge, although he didn't have a university education even. (Hence, why he's always at odds with SKY. They don't respect his lack of an education and he doesn't like their snobbery.) |

Actually, the wording sounds like she dropped charges, if I'm reading "...accepted his apology" correctly.
Probably under duress, but who knows. The politician/reporter relationship is murky and rotten to the core. |

Well...what do you expect? I suppose you think a guy deserves a life sentence for copping a little feel here or there... |

In many US states law school is not neccessary to become a lawyer either. Not that you'd find many clients. |

The headline of the article referred to the guy as "Fondler" (no that's not his last name but it would be awesome if it was), so I don't think the newspaper had much sympathy for the guy. |
