I feel lame!
It's been a few weekends since I went out last because I was sick, and now that my wife is sick she expects me to stay with her. |

It's a fine practice! Especially during summertime. Cheap and sociable to boot. They don't supply the tables and chairs, and bottle-opening service for nothing. |

Only if it's on a dangerous and interesting street corner. |

Just got back from a two-day trip (don't work fridays) to Byeonsan peninsula in Jeollabukdo
Swimming, hiking, islands... quite nice compared to the west coast just north of it. It's the first national park in Korea (1933) that tried to dub its sandy shores 'Bikini Beach' a few years ago. No bikinis yesterday and this morning, but a half dozen families, two couples, a group of university students and myself with Garcia Marquez's Memories of My Melancholy Whores, a novella easily polished off in the breezy Friday afternoon sun inbetween swims and walks to low tide islets.
I didn't buy anything and saw plenty that's new to me, though didn't meet any people on this trip contrary to the usual.
All in all, a content saturday evening unpacking and (*yawn*) anticipating an early rise tomorrow. |

My friend Jim Beam doesn't think it's lame...
I went out last night to celebrate the completion of my Korean language class at Yonsei. I feel good, was out all day (Oceans 13, palace, cafe, dinner and bookstore) I picked up a copy of Status Anxiety by Alain De Botton and watching internet TV while drinking a little JB and coke. |

Yea, I feel lame for staying home since the weather is spectacular this weekend. I attempted to take a trip to Daegu or Kyeongju (either shopping or touring) this morning, but no buses were running from my local terminal so I was told to take a train instead. When I tried to get a cabbie to take me to my local train station, he drove around confused for 2 hours! He didn't charge me despite that I still tried to pay him 5000 won for gas, but just couldn't understand that I simply wanted to go to the damned train station to ride a train to leave town for a weekend trip. I talked and talked, showed him my map, and drew pictures of trains as we rode around to demonstrate my need with no luck or success. I went back home, watched a movie, slept 3 hours, and got back up to get drunk tonight and surf the internet. I sure am bored to death here on account of not understanding how to do things and how to get there. (not in the city where it's easy to know how) I should had broke down for a trip to Seoul this morning since that is doable and fun, but it was already noon by the time I was finished with the fiasco I got myself into when trying to go to the train station.
Very disappointing... There's tomarrow, but I better be careful not to stay too long out there as to make it back by early Monday morning, since I don't know how late buses and trains run or how to ask about those sorts of things. Man, I feel like an idiot. lol |

i was trying to get everyone to go to the water park today- no one wanted to so i spent the day walking and sweating in namsan. i dont feel as bad since i was outside all day. loving this gorgeous weather.
bad luck about the train thing. i feel bad that i live in seoul and its easy to get around- can walk to the train station- and i still do nothing. i think its a lack of traveling companions that holds me back.
dave's needs a chat. this is like a really slow one. or maybe they have one i think? |

Last night was my first Saturday night at home alone for a while. I loved it! I don't usually go pubbing/clubbing on the weekends (or school nights) but I am usually out socialising and I often spend at least one night a week in a motel, sleeping over at friends or having friends stay over at mine.
I enjoyed my quiet night in last night, but if I were to do it too regularly it would start to get old real quick. |
