Hi, I was offered a position for me and my friend. Does anyone on here currently work there or know any information about this particular branch? I have seen some other posts about other W branches and have not heard a lot of positive stuff about W schools. So any and all information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. |

It wouldn't hurt to ask the following questions to foreign teachers when the boss isn't listening BEFORE you sign the labor contract.
1 ) What are the hours? (start time / stop time / breaks).
2 ) How many classes per day, week, month? Not hour many hours per month. 30 classroom hours can mean anything from 1350 -1800 minutes per week standing in front of the class. The difference can be up to 7.5 hours in front of the class each week.
3 ) Do they always pay on time?
4 ) Do they really pay overtime or avoid it with creative book keeping? Yes = Red Flag
5 ) Do you get credit for classes on the national holidays or do you get the day off but still have to work your 120 hours before you get overtime?
6 ) Do they have national medical (with the little booklet)? No = Red Flag
7 ) Do they pay into pension? No = Red Flag
8 ) What about the holidays? 10 or more working days? (legal requirement here) No = Red Flag
9 ) When and how do you get your holidays?
10 ) What extra stuff do you really have to do - mentioned or not in the contract.
11 ) Is the school having financial troubles? Yes = Don't work there
12 ) Does the employer have a history of firing employees during the 10th, 11th, and/or 12th month of employment for the purpose of not providing (1) severance pay (2) monthly wages for the 10th, 11th, and 12th month of employment (3) a plane ticket home? Yes = Red Flag
13 ) What are the behaviors of the students towards ALL teachers like inside and outside of the classroom?
14 ) Does the employer make additional deductions from your monthly pay not mentioned in your contract? Yes = Red Flag
15 ) Then consider the quality of life issues - things that are important to you that aren't mentioned here (housing, furnishings, bathroom, access to recreational facilities, shopping, banking). |

I would be very careful before ever working for a W branch. I worked for one that went bankrupt. A friend of mine had horrible problems with the dishonest corporate people. Now the branch you might be going to might be okay, theoretically, I don't know, but go to a public school if I you can... or find a more secure hagwon.. |
