Does anyone have an interesting/fun way to teach borrow/lend to uni students? The classroom is NOT equipped for multi-media...unless you consider a whiteboard, a marker and a teacher multi-media!!

I'm particularly interested in some type of dialogue. I've tried various things, but I'm not really happy with any of them.

You could do some sort of make believe cooking thing in groups, give students cards, with a recipie, each student has a few items, they need to borrow and lend to get everything they need....

I need to borrow a xxxx can you lend me one/some?

students check off what they borrowed and from who, and what they lent and to who, until everyone has all the info the things they need to complete their recipie.

wings: Thanks for the suggestion, but most uni students don't cook! I'd like to make this as "real-world" as possible. Borrowing/lending money, cars, laptops...

In my Chinese class at university the lend/borrow pair came up in the same unit as going to the library. "How long can I borrow this book?" "How many books will you lend me?" "What do I need to bring with me to borrow books from the library?"

Or, like wings suggested, you could make them ask to borrow one thing while loaning another. "A: Can I borrow your textbook? B: Only if you lend me your motorbike for the weekend" Something where the students need to negotiate what they'll exchange. It's also a pretty handy way to practice "if" conditions / clauses.

While looking for a fun way to teach borrow/lend, I came across this:

It's got to be the WORST teaching video ever!!
