I've noticed many non-SMOE Pubic School jobs are offering 14 days vacation. The smart Hagwons are also beginning to offer this 14 day vacation deal to try compete with the Pubic Schools. I ask:

Why 14?

Just so that they can have the satisfaction of knowing you can't enjoy an extra weekend off by having to come in on a Monday or Friday? Wouldn't 15 be the logical number?

The 14 days offered by public school don't include weekends. I suppose you could try and work out an agreement with your vice-principal where you teach a couple of after school classes and you get a paid day off. The GEPIK contract states that you can bank every hour of OT into a paid hour of vacation. Teach 8 extra classes and you'll get 3 weeks of in total

It used to be 2 calendar weeks and has since been improved to 14 working days.

Yes, 15 working days would make more sense (3 calendar weeks) but now that SMOE is up to 21 WORKING days, I don't think it will be long before the rest match it.

Maybe they just give a couple long weekends on top of 2 weeks. I like long weekends. You?
