For all of you who live in Cheongju . . .

What area do you live in, and do you like it?

I live in Sacheon-dong, and it feels like hicksville. (Fortunately, taxis are cheap.)

I live in Yulyang-dong, it rocks. I was drinking out on the old soju platform on Saturday night with some work mates and a few good old Korean boys. One of the gents, a retired salesman for a shipping firm, was saying how our immediate area was so atypical for a Korean suburb, low-rise, lots of trees and very quiet. I had to agree. I'm also close to Homeplus, can walk to downtown in about 40 mins along the river or get there on the bus in about 10. Better still, my workmates and I often go drinking or eating around the other university area and avoid the scumbags and bloodshed at Chungdae Chungmun. As the only whities there, we have a much better time and don't suffer from the diminished reputation that we get uptown in fratboy land.

I live right next to Cheong-Ju university. As Jags said, it's a great alternative to Chun-buk University (chungdae). There's one funky smelling American that lives next to me, and a foul mouthed Scot... other than that, it's a great place.

I used to live in Cheongju a few years back. I believe it was kag yong dong, but the name is a bit fuzzy. I was a 4 or 5 min walk to Lotte, 3 or 4 mins to the bus terminal. When the home plus opened up right beside my hagwon I thought it was gold. Wasn't the biggest party scene, but since most weekends I went to seoul it was convenient, and it was great for ease of shopping.
