Title says it all. I left my new leather wallet with two credit cards, ID card and about 50,000 won at the back seats of the bus. One phonecall later and its in my hand. Gotta love that yeh?

Good for you. I wish I had that luck. I had my wallet stolen, and while the cash in it was minimal (less than 20,000W) I'm dreading the headache of getting a new ARC issued.

Getting a new ARC is a simple process. Drop into your local immigration office with your passport and 10,000 won and they take care of it (often, while you wait).

Quick and easy.

I've heard it is easy...the thing that is worrying me is that I had an appointment scheduled for immigration anyway, since I am resigning my contract, so I don't know if losing my ARC is going to muck that up in anyway.
I hope it goes as smooth as you say Smile

Lucky you! I left my wallet in a shopping cart because I switched carts because the wheels were messed up on the first one I took. I went back for it 5 minutes later and it was gone. I had 200,000 Won in it for groceries. Later that night, I got a call from the store saying they found my wallet in a garbage can, but the money was gone. All my cards were there though!

I was told that things didn't get stolen in Korea, but I've had friends who have had things like bicycles to petty things like doormats stolen.

It depends on the type of person who finds it, no matter what country you are in. I had found two $50 dollar bills laying beside an ATM in my city (back in Canada) and returned it to the bank.

Found a wallet back home about 10 years ago. It had about $75, plus credit cards, etc..

We called the guy and got it back to him. He freaked that everything was still there, and was very relieved because he was leaving that evening for a flight out of town.

I'm afraid it's not that simple, at least not for me. When my ARC card went missing earlier this year, immigration told me that I had to file some paperwork at the police station first.

I left a passport wallet with my passport and 1000 bucks US on the top of my car. A korean followed me and when I stopped for a traffic light jumped out of his car and handed it to me.

I said Kam sah hamnida and he said be careful in English and smiled.

Very Happy

That is one thing I do definitely like about Korea and many Koreans. Many of them have pointed out when I dropped something or lost something. I also do the same for Koreans. That is clear about most Koreans.

ok i didn't lose a wallet or anything, but when i was in thailand i got this private bus from bangkok to attathya, i fell asleep and woke up when he started dropping people off and realised i actually didn't know where i wanted to go and it was pretty late, thankfully i spoke to a business man who looked like he might speak english he asked the driver to take me to a guest house in my guide book and he drove me around for nearly half an hour trying to find it. i was very greatful and said so in english and he said something back in thai. next morning he came back to me and ran up to me shouting thai and i realised he had my book in my hand which i had left on the bus. i thought he was an extremely kind man and gave me an extraordinary service for the 50 baht fare i paid him, you wouldn't believe it because he was kinda scary looking and of the older generation.

Also the night before i got my book back, i went to a bar near my guest house, talked the to the bar maid a bit and got beat alot at connect4, but she was kind enough to offer to take me around on her motorbike for free the next day, so i could see all the sights. Ok i'm straying off the topic a bit here, but i thought i'd share my story of 2 very kind people i came across in thailand although i met many others in asia
