Is it a nice area to work in? Has anyone heard of Hatap? How is that place? I just want to get a general idea of the area... I don't really know it so well...

I'm pretty sure you mean Yatap. It's a great neighborhood to live in. I was there for about 2 years. You're 2 subway stops from Samsung Plaze, 30-40 minutes to kangnam. The Seongnam express bus terminal is there, giving easy access to all of Korea by bus. Very upscale. Alot of rich kids. CGV cineplex, Homever, Kim's Club, other shopping, VIPS, a lot of coffee shops, and Cha Hospital (which I'm told is one of the best hospitals in Korea). It's a pretty new area, and it's almost guaranteed that any provided housing would be a sweet officetel (I still miss that huge apartment)...Tancheon park is right there with miles and miles of walking/jogging/biking paths. I'd recommend it. |

There are other threads here about Bundang.
Everyone there is rich. Its newer and cleaner. Its connect to Seoul via subway and to Coex by bus and subway. Its a bit more expensive for food and alot more for clothes. It can be really boring because most all of the residents are family people. That means there aren't too many good night bars or clubs. Even though you can get to Seoul on the subway during the day, the subway closes at 11 and then you have to eitehr spend the night in a love motel or get a 20000 won taxi ride home if you go out to trendier places such as hongdae on the weekends.
If you want a newer, cleaner place that offers a lower-key lifestyle, then its good. If you want action and adventure, go to someplace actually in Seoul. |

There are things called buses that go to Bundang until 1 or 2am from Gangnam, Dangook University and Euiljiro 1-ga |

I think I will see about going to Seoul itself. That is my preference. I don't like the idea of having the subway close on me and trying to make it home. So I am going to look into that as well. |

I think I will see about going to Seoul itself. That is my preference. However, since I am quitting my hagwon position, a recruiter for the Seoul area told me not to apply. I actually never wanted to work for a hagwon. I am sure some people know my story. My last job went bankrupt, I wasn't getting a letter of release, didn't understand the laws or lack there of and immigration didn't speak English, and I relied on a recruiter. A nice recruiter (another one) I am dealing with will in fact deliver and get me a good public position, and I will be more than glad to finish my contract. I signed the one I had when I was in compromised position. I am a dedicated employee and do like my manager. The hours are just crazy, and I want to eventually teach public in North America again. |

The public transportation (bus) is only off for about 3 hours per day (2am-5:00am).
Chances are, unless you drink like a fish and pass out early, that you won't notice the difference between 4:00 and 5:00 or you can just stay out for an extra hour for snacks and another beer.
It costs more for a taxi to go across Seoul (Hongdae - Cheon-ho) than it does to get to Bundang. |

I've been in Bundang for a year and had no idea the buses went until 2. Every time I see the running times inside the bus they usually say 11pm. So Kangnam->Bundang runs til 2...how about from Hannam-dong? |

Its a yuppie-infested and "family friendly." However it is redeemed by being near Seongnam |

I guess you never heard someone say "What is Charley like?". I suppose I could have said what is it like instead of how.... Would that have pleased you? LOL It is very correct to use like in that case without comparison. I am not comparing Bundang to anything. |
