I am just recovering from a few days of nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, lack of appetite. Went to a pharmacy yesterday. I was given Chinese medicine. I don't know if that works. Went to another pharmacy and got western medicine, capsules. Haven't finished the stuff yet, but feeling better already.

Ah, also got "zentel" (albenzadol) - worm killer pill OTC in any pharmacy for 500 won - and a few hours later, sure enough, saw the worms in the toilet, some hanging off the stool. Pretty cool. It's fun killing intestinal parasites.

Do you think that could explain consistent diarrhea, that's been going on for about a week? It's starting to get annoying.

Diarrhea for a week could suggest something different other than food poisoning. I don't think it usually last for that long. What you mentioned would indicate some kind of possible bacterial infection, bowel problem, even though it can't be separated from whatever you've been eating or drinking...

ah jajdude, i know how you're feeling. i'm taking a sickie today (my first ever! like really ever), and i think it's because of the bad kimbab i ate on friday. friday i was nauseated, weak, dizzy and generally not feeling too good. after puking, i drank the chinese medicine that the school nurse gave me. i felt good for the rest of the day, but since then i've been feeling pretty rough. diarrhea, dizziness, lack of appetite and nausea. lovely.
off to the hospital now to get a shot.
what was the name of the worm killer?

Something doesn't sound right. Food poisoning is a very sudden and violent illness as I've had it before and lost so much fluid and strength that I had to be hospitalized.

Intestinal parasites can go on much longer without you even know'n, right? I'm not sure.

But from experience Chinese medicines for stomach ailments work well. Korean medicine helps you fell better right away, but it's only temporary. Western medicine's your best bet, but you might wanna see a doctor, especially if you're see'n "worms". Hope ya feel better.

Do you know how you got it so that I can be more careful? If I was a bet'n man I'd say undercooked pork or chicken.

I'd recommend Zentel (worm killer) to anyone. I was told schoolkids were given it regularly, say, every 6 months, cannot confirm that though. I believe intestinal parasites are pretty common here as in most of Asia. They may be harmless, I don't know, I'm not an expert. Perhaps it was undercooked meat that made me ill for a few days. I'm not sure what else would make one sick like that. I could still function, just wasn't really able to eat much, and was affected by bad smells.

IF it was food poisoning, it was a mild case. I was not really debilitated by it. It seemed to begin after eating a chicken burrito. And drank some cheap booze later that nite. I wonder if the alcohol here, lousy as most of the local stuff is, could contribute to this type of thing or even cause worms. I bet galbi claims a few victims.

homobots!!! i loooove homobots!
and i have to say that uncivilized queers are the best kind of queers. they're so much more...natural than the civilized, white picket fence ones.
i didn't intentionally eat bad kimbab. it was leftover in the fridge from the day before. i thought it would be okay, but about half an hour later i discovered it wasn't.
still sick btw. the first doctor i went to diagnosed me with COLITIS after i told him my eating bad food story. um, yeah. colitis. xrays, stool samples, the whole dealio. went to another doctor today after barfing twice at work and he said i have gastroenteritis (sp?). he gave me crappy tasting pepto bismol-type stuff along with heaps of pills. hope it all works, because i really probably should eat at some point and keep the food down. now i see how bulimia is such a great weight loss plan.

I've also been suffering from on-off diarrhea and stomach pains for the past week. I've no idea what caused it and it's still bugging me. Is there some kind of stomach/intestinal virus going around?

Here's a piece of nice info from the U.S. FDA:

http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~mow/sea-ill.html

Anyone remember the "House" episode where the two passengers get sick on the plane. This episode suggests that our salt water fish supply has becoming affected by global warming.

Anyone heard about this?
