My fiance and I have been discussing going to Korea next summer for quite sometime. However, we would like to have our wedding just before we leave. The only problem is, if we're planning to go sometime next summer...when should we start contacting a recruiter or applying for jobs?

Also, is there a specific time during there year when most people begin their contracts? I'm assuming hogwons more flexible with the time of the year you can come than public schools?

We're trying to plan the timing right so we don't have to move into an apartment or somewhere else for a short period of time before leaving for Korea. Any help would be great!

The public school year in Korea begins in late February and ends before Christmas, so you have a break from December-February. The summer/semester break is from mid/late July to the end of August, so I'd imagine lots of public schools hire during the breaks so they can have a teacher for the whole year/semester.

I don't think I've ever known anyone who got a job here a whole year before coming over. Most of the public schools I know are actually hiring for the fall semester right now. But it can't hurt to get your resume out there, and I could certainly be wrong about it.

Oh, I thought this was going to be a thread about when ppl leave KOREA. I was going to say something like, "as soon as they get sick of the place and decide to move somewhere else". Sorry. Nevermind.
