I have been accepted with SMOE to start on August 25th. I got the news 2 days ago, and have been told that all my documents need to be in Korea by the 28th of June. I am not in Canada so I am having some serious problems trying to get these things done. My recruiter told me that I can get a criminal record check on line.... When I checked there was a lot of information about fingerprinting etc, I had a criminal record check done 3 years ago, and I remember I did not have to give finger prints, just my drivers licence. Anyway, does anyone know if I can order one online, or send a letter and have a family member get one for me in Canada without fingerprinting etc?

Canadian Criminal Record Check
To get a Canadian criminal record check from Korea, one should contact the RCMP Canada office in Ottawa for information and forms. One of the requirements is to have your fingerprints done in Korea, which can be done at a local police station. Once you get your fingerprints done, you will have to send it with your personal information to the RCMP office in Ottawa by mail or by courier. More information is available http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/crimrec/finger2_e.htm#Obtain.

Korean Criminal Record Check
Local Requests in Korea:
Koreans and Non-Koreans should visit their nearest police station and request a Criminal History Information Record (CHIR) [Bumjoi Gyung-ryuck Jaryo Hoibo-seo; 범죄 경력 자료 회보서]. One has to bring an ID such as a passport or an alien registration card in person. Near the embassy, the Namdaemoon police station (Scientific Investigation Team tel: 02-777-0795) provides the service within a day, but the processing time could be different depending on the police station you contact. There is no fee for the service.
