| Can I nominate myself or do I not count because I no longer reside in Canada? |

Mount Thor is badass.
I have to admit I'm a little surprised West Edmonton Mall isn't on there, but not particularly offended. |

it's a wonder that people think Canada is as good as they do when the reality is actually far from the perception.
Canada = over-rated |

| Corner of Hastings and Main in front of the old Carnegie Library in Downtown Eastside Vancouver. Drugs galore getting dealt and the police station is only 2oo metres away. |

Superhero, As someone who loves superheroes, you should be an expert on the differences between reality and perception. The perception is the reality -- and all you are talking about is your own peptoception. You should stalk up on some phenomenological treatesies Husserl would be a start www.husserlpage.com
Or was it the nuclear exposure that your mother underwent that turned you into such an "abnormale"?
Fact is, we aren't talking up Canada, just that within it. So your point is mute.
I find it a wonder that any local watering hole doesn't get a nomination......how'd Canada'd survive without them, eh? |

Wow, you just don't get it.
This is about the 7 best things in Canada. Any country can do this, it isn't comparing it to the rest of the world. Get a grip. We could be talking about the seven wonders of western San Marino. |

How about the Strat in Edmonton? It's the main floor of a hundred-year-old seedy hotel. It attracts an interesting mix of students, hipsters, VLT addicts, and aging alcoholics. Plus, cheap popcorn and pickled eggs. When Chretien came through around 2001, he mentioned in a speech that he drove past the Strat, and remarked "My grandfather used to drink there when he first came to Canada."

1. B.C Weed
2. Clayoquot Sound (Vancouver Island, B.C)
3. Queen Charlotte Islands--Haida Gwaii (B.C)
4. Drumheller, Alta
5. Rockies (B.C Alta)
6. Nahanni National Park (NWT)
7. Pacific Rim National Park (Vancouver Island, B.C)
Nominees I consider personal insults from the CBC:
1. Cathedral Grove (strip of trees to hide massive clearcuts on Vancouver Island).
2. Wreck Beach (sausage-fest of a nude beach in Vancouver, B.C)
3. Vimy Memorial (wtf it's in France)
4. Mum's House in Scarborough (sigh)

my top 7 in no real order:
1) niagra falls
2) the canadian north (in particular northern saskatchewan is fantastic, unlike the rest of the province)
3) the great lakes (um they would be more amazing if they weren't so polluted)
4) Drumheller and the southern alberta badlands
5) Quebec city- not as much nightlife as Montreal, but old Quebec is great
6) The maritimes, esp Newfoundland
7) lake athabasca |

I KNOW what four of the seven MUST be:
- the Northern Lights
- the Rocky Mountains
- Niagara Falls
- the Cabot Trail
It'd be a joke to leave off any one of these four.
I can think of plenty of others to round off the list but I cannot imagine for the life of me how these four could be excluded from a list of Wonders of Canada.
But here's a list of the Seven URBAN Wonders of Canada by which I mean major symbolic highlight of those visiting a major Canadian city:
7 Urban Wonders:
1. Stanley Park
2. CN Tower
3. Mont Real
4. West Ed Mall
5. Rideau Canal
6. Le Chateau Frontenac
7. Butchart Gardens |
