Now I know that we all had that one co-worker whom we'd like to try and "engage" with. I have one right now, that if circumstances were different and if I didn't have to deal with seeing her everyday, that I would have most certainly hit on. My question is has anyone ever successfully wooed a female Korean Co-worker? Can it be done? I'm only asking for soical-anthological purposes only. Of course. (Cough)

10 million ladies out there... why on ghods green earth would you crap where you live?

It is all rosy now... what happens in 3 months when it goes to crap. You can't leave. Now you are stuck working with your EX who may be he11 bent on making your life a living he11. .

Not to mention the fact that a lot of older style contracts (especially hakwon contracts) have a clause forbidding it.

Gonna give your boss an excuse for an 11th month firing? Saves him a plane ticket and your severance.

BAD IDEA on so many levels

.

Sure it's a bad idea, but it's probably the easiest way to get with a Korean girl... much better than a bar scene... she gets to know you easier, feels comfortable with you earlier and from there it's a matter of sealing the deal if you so wish...

Don't do it.

I've dated two of my co-workers. One's left for home, the other (Korean) is still here. It's awkwardness you just don't need to deal with if it doesn't work out.

And if it does work out, you have no escape from her. You'll see her every day, at work and after. It's just not a good idea, even in the West.

It's definitely a risky move, but if you're prepared to deal with the fallout if it goes tǐts up go for it.

Having said that, I went for my co-worker, who happened to be non-Korea, and now we're happily married.

Yep. Yep.

Course, as others have said, it's a bad idea for many reasons. In my particular case, she was admin staff and I barely (if ever) saw her at work anyway, so it all worked out. I'd never do it if we were always in each others' faces all day long, though.

If it works out, life will be lovely.

If it doesn't you will be in a hell that cannot be described.

Stick with drunken, after staff party, boning.

My advice: if you are still interested, want to continue staying in Korea and you have no intention of renewing your contract where you and she work, go for it toward the very end of it. And encourage her to keep it a secret until you are out. Tell no one.

Perfect counsel. I think this is the way you should go providing you are staying in Korea and not renewing. I think it's just too big a gamble to date her if you're planning on staying at that school for a long time.

I know that it's a terrible idea. In fact it's one of the most terrible ideas that I've ever had. Hell, I'm not even considering staying after I finish my contract. (It's a big world out there, I'd like to see some more of it.) But the "guy" keeps asking the question. "can I pull it off?" Am I a terrible person? Perhaps. But I think that it's highly unlikely that I'll be foolish enough to try. I have way more to lose than to gain.

Do it. What's a little awkwardness? Not the end of the world.

I have always done it. With the last girl I tried it on, things worked out well. We're married now.

Yes...but she was already married and the whole school new about it...not too comfortable a situation, in the least! Confused

I dated a married woman before. I didn't know it at the time though.
