One of the teachers at work who helps me out all the time is going to Australia for summer vacation. She is going to Sydney. She doesn't really want to do a package, but doesn't know how to travel any other way. Her English is decent, but not awesome. She could handle getting around without a problem, but not goign on an serious English only tour where it would be expected to be fully understand (she could, but she would miss some of what the guide was saying).
So, for those of you who have traveled to Sydney or are from there, can you suggest some good sites to see, travel companies, day tour companies, hotels, etc? English websites are fine for her.
Also, she heard some rumor that public transit in Sydney stops before 5pm. That sounds crazy, but I can't find a site to prove to her thats wrong.
Thank you! She has helped me out a ton this year, so I would like to do a little payback. |

I am not from Sydney, but a number of Koreans from my church took holidays to Sydney.
There is the obvious Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
You can go in the Opera House sometimes (so I believe) and I don't know the details, but its possible to take a guided tour walking over the top of the Bridge. Here is the link for that:

A once in a life time opportunity.
The Blue Mountains are popular tour. There is a number of tours to be found from a google search. I am sorry I do not really know the companies. Here is one add for a tour

Bondi beach is popular for an Aussie beach also. Though its winter now, it might still be worth checking out.
How long is she going for? Big country, only limit is time and money. Can take an internal flight to Melbourne for not too much with budget airlines Jetstar or Virgin Blue. Maybe catch a bus??? Just check prices online.
I will be able to ask someone tonight or on the weekend for more advice, so I can send a PM or add to this later. |

It is always worth visiting a wildlife park also. One especially with Aussie animals. You can usually feed Kangaroos and some will allow an opportunity to hold a Koala. Otherwise go to Taronga Zoo.
Here is one with Aussie animals, but it might be more helpful to hear from someone who knows more about it.

Unlike in Seoul, you can catch buses home 24hrs (not that frequently in the early morning though). when the trains stop around midnight they get replaced by buses which follow the train lines.
Tell her to just go and take it one day at a time. There's more than enough to do. |

She probably heard that from the fellow who invented fan death in the 80's to cut down electricity consumption. |
