Do recruiters recruit for schools on a 'first person to fill the job gets the money basis' or do they get assigned individual positions which it is their sole responsibility to fill?

Would it be foolish to sign up with a small recruiter that you have a good feeling about rather than a behemoth like Work n Play? I have actually only heard good things about Work n Play, it was simply the first name that sprang to mind.

Put simply: do small recruiters lose the good jobs? can they be trusted to find you a decent job?

They work on a first to fill gets the cash basis. Some of the smaller recruiters can do an excellent job but they may only service a small area.

IF you are applying for a government program it is fine to go with one recruiter. The applications for foreign hires usually (BUT NOT ALWAYS) get filtered through the program central office. Some public schools are private hires but you have to keep an eye out for them. They are usually plum jobs and get snapped up fast.

If you are looking for a hakwon job, use as many recruiters as you need to get what you want. Don't work with just one recruiter unless you are infinitely patient or desperate (and will take the first contract that gets offered).

Send your information to as many recruiters as you want. You will get a ton of crap offers. Filter out the crap and reply to the rest. Filter those down until you get the best you can find. Take your time, do it right and you will have a great year or 3 here.

Rush the process and you can add your name to the list of horror stories that litter this forum.
