So this is what they are claiming. And apparenetly I will have to file taxes here in Korea in May according to my boss. Been here 8 months and have been asking them to pay the pension and health insurance for that time.
I don't think they can do this nor do I believe that it is legit.
I am calling places on monday.
Has anyone ever had this happen, had to deal with this or have done this on purpose?
Any info on this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks |

| Quit asking dishonest people to be honest. Go to the Labor Board, the Pension Office, the Tax Office, Immigration, and the National Health Office. Your boss sponsored you into Korea as an employee. That's what the paperwork for your visa says and that's what you are: an employee. |

By calling them you will only find out what you:
a) already know
b) where their offices are.
Then you actually have to go in and file a FORMAL complaint IN WRITING to get the ball rolling or you will just end up being shuffled from desk to desk and told there is nothing they can do by some lazy ass clerk who can't be bothered to do their job.
Get serious or give it up. There is no 1/2 way.
(Not meant to be an attack, just a statement of fact). |

| I am going through that now. I went to tax office to find out if I was registered which I wasnt'. Boss had to pay last 3 years taxes plus pay a fine. I am waiting for paperwork to arrive at tax office so I can find out about why I am claimed as an independent contractor and to remedy the overpaying he did. I should be getting a large refund. I am still paying 3.3% instead of the 1.7% so I need to get that changed ASAP!!! |

Yes, the 3.3% is the giveaway. No one should be paying 3.3%!
This is happening to more teachers than many realize because so many aren't checking up on this. |
