I'll be moving from Shinchon to ChangDong sometime next week. From what I have seen, there doesn't seem to be too much cooking in that neck of the woods.
Anyone on this board living there at the moment, or have lived there in the past? I'm curious especially about some decent bars in the area. Thanks! |

| Chang-Dong is a short taxi ride from Nowon Station one way, and Suyu Station the other. Both are very heavy drinking areas, with their share of TGIF and Outbacks and Dept. Stores. |

| Or take the subway west for 20 minutes and you'll reach Hyewa, an even better party area. |

| Chang dong I'd say the advantage is you're close to an Emart. Nowon just north has some life. You're also on line 1 which can get you to Jongno. |

dude, im in changdong, and i meant to take u up on the soju tent offer. hell, im free tomorrow! pm me.
E-mart blows. at gate 1, there is Hanaro Mart, not as pretty as E, but a better variety on import goods, and better prices. produce is all korean grown i think, so no bananas unless they've got some going on jeju now.
nowon has a couple foreigner bars, but only entertaining on a thursday or friday, and both dont have draft. it's about a 10-15 minute walk from changdong station, as nowon station is quite close; just cross the "river."
ive yet to find a good chillout place in hyewha, but i do love the atmosphere. short subway ride, but not the cheapest taxi home.
but if you like biking, the outdoors, and a neighborhood tolerant of foreigners but not overwhelmed by them (itae, hongdae, sinchon) then it's cool.
let's talk about it over some soju. cheers |
