Seems like every flight out of Korea is 500,000 won +++++
even to near by places like Tokyo and Beijing.
Anyone know of some places that are more reasonable to get to? |

There is NO place to fly to that is under 500k during the "summer vacation" period.
IF you have the time, catch a ferry to China and fly from there.
If you don't have the time, either save your cash and wait till the end of your contract OR bite the bullet and pay the coin.
Most (if not all) flights out of Korea are double the price you pay in the off season. eg: ICN-HKG usually runs about 350-400k and during the summer can run up to 800k+ won. Same with Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines.
You can try getting a cheap flight into CLARK (not a vacation destination so usually cheaper) in the Philippines and then grab a discount carrier from there but again it would depend on your available vacation time.

you might be surprised at how good a deal you can get if you're flexible. i hate tour groups with a passion, but we found this package deal with hanatour for 399,000 to malaysia. this is way less than the cost of even a plane ticket. (we're ditching them as soon as we get there and doing our own thing.)
if you go to hanatour, tourexpress, they might have last minute deals because they buy the seats in advance, and if they can fill them, drop the prices. |

Go to www.tourcabin.com to compare prices from all the big tour operators. There are alot of flights still available between 300 and 400k, but you will struggle to find anything lower than that. There are some Air Macau fares available for about 260 including tax it seems. |

Clark is NOT Manila.
Clark is the old US airbase at Angeles city at the foot of Mt. Pinatubo volcano and it is a less than pleasant 3 hour drive away from Manila. |
