My school has offered to reimburse me my flight money when I arrive instead of purchasing the ticket themselves.

This seems to be the usual and more risky stratagy now days. They are just protecting themselves in a way but also what would happen if you get here and they don't pay up???
I've seen so many stories on this website about hagwons that don't pay up due to so many excuses(eg. the price was too high, we don't have the money now, etc, etc.)
If you want my advice if they want you badly enough they will pay for you and if they don't just find a school that will. i know it sounds time-consuming but i the long run it will probably be worth it.

As the Labour Board rep, the lawyer and my friends have all re-iterated recently-- get it in WRITING!! If it's not part of your contract, it's not worth the paper it's written on. And don't believe (as I did) the "our word means more than a contract" line. If you can afford to fly over on your own dime, DO IT and interview prospective employers from the comfort of your yeogwan (guest house). Anyone who is half decent will re-imburse your airfare as part of hiring you.

Oh so much wiser now than I was then, Lesza("
