Have a couple of questions.
They want 2 letters of reccommendation from previous employers. I only have 1 previous employer, will a letter from a coworker be enough?
They want to contact my current job, I am in a contract and don't want my boss to find out until I am certain I have the job. How can I tell them in a tactful way?
They require some documents like a criminal history check, that there is no way I can provide because I haven't been home in 2 years. They have a 15 week hiring process, is it different for F Visa holders?
Thanks for the help. |

You can still provide a criminal history check dating back to when you lived in your home country. You can do that from abroad.
As for the recommendation letters you are in a bind. It is normal for the University to ask for recommendation from your current employer. You got a tough choice to make here. |

If they like you, they won't care about a second letter. Shit, you could make something up and they wouldn't know. Same with a background check, but you can get a legit one online with no problem.
Are you getting a uni job from abroad, you only have one previous employer and you don't know how to communicate with your current employer. You are very lucky or this sounds fishy. Are you an F-visa holder?
Sorry for all the questions, just curious. One more thing. Dog Patch? Seriously? |

Sorry but that is bad advice (no offense intended there).
The University might care very much about a second letter as it would come from your current employer and be your most recent work reference in Korea. They would be right to want such a letter.
Making something up would really be dumb thing to do and a very bad way to start your employment contract with a University. It could in fact be grounds for a dismissal later on if it comes out.
The background check needs to be done legit as well unless you want this to backfire.
I am on the hiring comitee at the University where I work and we had a teacher submit a phoney letter of reference and some made up crime record check to the administration. They people in HR checked on the documents and the guy was not hired. Perhaps some Universities do not do this as meticulously however.
Just be on the up and up. |

I agree with Homer that it is a bad idea to fake documents unless it is your last resort. In that case, you can always plan the numbers with a good, professional friend. When they call your old boss, they'll be speaking to your friend who has wonderful things to say. Once again, a last resort. |
