You got TOEIC for English, but is there a Korean equivalent test? |

Yes there is the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK). You can take it twice a year. I just passed level 4. There are six levels with level 6 being the highest. I think there is another body which administers another test. I have been led to believe that TOPIK is the better of the two though. |

I'm a gyopo so my Korean is all over the place. My listening and reading comprehension is very good. My speaking is sporatic (I have trouble with vocabulary and word endings) and my writing skills are horrific.
I'm studying to get my speaking/writing skills on par with my listening/reading.
I wanted to see about taking a Korean language proficiency test so that I can use that to get a job. I wasn't sure if there was a test that Korean Companies required for Korean proficiency for Expats.
Also, I plan on going back home and applying to a bunch of different companies about an Expat position in Korea. A certificate or good score on a Korean language proficiency test would definitely improve my chances. I live in Virginia, so around Richmond and Washington are literally thousands of companies that have some sort of business operation in Korea.
International Business Degree + Living/working experience in Korea + Korean language proficiency test = Great Expat job.
At least, thats what I'm hoping for. If the FTA is approved, that should open up opportunities for people who are fluent in Korean and English. |
