Check for travel advisories with your embassies.
There are no safe Indonesia based airlines.
Two recent air accidentsa plane crash in January and an aircraft overshooting a runway in Marchprompted the government to order an audit of all Indonesian air carriers. The result was that none of the 54 companies checked received the top of three grades, and six were warned to meet safety regulations in three months or face closure. Independently, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration ruled that Indonesian carriers do not meet International Civil Aviation Organization standards, causing the U.S. Embassy to urge Americans to fly straight to their destinations on international airlines that do rather than flying domestically. Indonesian officials are making efforts to bring the aviation industry back in compliance with international standards.
A Garuda Indonesia jetliner, flight GA 200, a Boeing 737-400 craft, carrying 140 people, caught fire upon landing at Adisucipto airport in Yogyakarta, Central Java.
