My latest trick is wrapping a bandana into a headband in order to absorb sweat (so I don't have to constantly wipe away at my forehead and face). Does anyone have any other tips for coping with the unbearable heat and humidity of the Korean summer?

Go to the beach every day about noon.

That way you start work at 2 or 3 with a nice cooled down body temperature.

I've done that for a few summers here.

When it is really hot and you are relaxing/trying to sleep, wet a towel and ring it out, lay it on your legs, stomache, whatever. It works twice as well if you are in a room with a fan.

Have a fan on you when you are sleeping. Crack the window just in case if you like. Try not to walk very far to work unless your classroom has aircon and its turned up. Wear a vest if you are a guy. Don't wear bandanas as any advantages they have are outweighed by their inherent crapness. Ditto for headbands.

Ice water. Get a sippy cup with a wide brim so you can steal ice and ice water at Starbucks and Coffee Bean. Great when you're out and about for the day.

Air conditioning, obviously. Barring that, get 2 or 3 fans and run them on you when you sleep. Take a cold shower and don't dry off. Get into bed.

In all seriousness though, being a child of the tropics and having spent many a year in SE Asia, I think showering is key. 4-8 cold showers a day keeps you fresh and regulates your body temp well.

someone on arirang (yeah i know) said that ice water and cold showers are a bad way to go because your body reacts and your body temperature rises.

Instead you should apparently drink tepid water and lukewarm showers. doesn't sound really pleasant though
