I worked in Korea in 2001 for a teacher for 9 months, and am considering returning in September and I have two questions.

1) The school I worked at was ok at the beginning, but after a few months turned into a nightmare because the owner opened up a second branch without enough students to fill the classes. Everyone was overworked, problems with money, etc, but I had decided to finish my contract until a few months before the end of my contract the owner fired a couple of teachers 1 or 2 months from the ends of their contracts to avoid giving them severance pay/return airfare. I didn't feel like sticking around anyway, and with the prospect of this happening to me too, I just left.

Will this be an issue when applying for jobs now? Any suggestions on how I should handle it?

2) I would eventually like to teach at a university there but figure I might have to work in a hogwan the first year I'm there. I have a ba, a tefl certificate and 8 years of experience, 6 of which were at the university level. What kind of salary offers can I expect?

Thanks for your time Very Happy

RE: question 1 - I can't see any problem.

RE: question 2 - Skip the hakwons, get into a public school and network for a uni position in your 2nd year. You should qualify for level 2 or perhaps even level 1 if you can verify the classroom experience.
