I am looking to go to Korea in August and am hoping I can bring my North American game systems with me. I am already aware that I will need to purchase a power converter or step down transformer to accommodate those units, but I was wondering if the televisions over there utilize the same A/V Multi Out ports (red, white, yellow) that televisions made for America do. I assume that television ports are universal, especially since there's not a TV made in America anymore, but I wanted to be certain.

Really, do all newer TV's have those things now here in the US? I have seen them before, but none of my TV's have them(I'm in USA not Korea). I did notice that when I got a playstation recently, it expected your TV would have them, which pissed me off because I had to go to Radio Shack to get a converter to coaxial. g*dd*amned technology... Mad

Can one purchase a connector that converts American audio/video connectors to Korean television ports?

He's having you on, the regular red, white, and yellow cables should work fine.

There's no color purple on Korean t.v. sets because it offends the King.

That shouldn't be a problem for most computer games you're bringing.

I didn't notice there isn't the colour purple. But then I don't watch TV. I've heard the only time they allow the colour purple on TV is when the King of Korea appears in his robes.

Geez, I thought the joke was in some type of coincidence in coloring. Some people just don't know how to be helpful. Thanks for letting me know.

A PS2 and maybe a Wii. I just sold off my Gamecube and am debating purchasing the Wii before or after my year away.

So that's where those ad wizards came up with the "Dare to be The Purple" slogan...it's all so clear now.

I would hold off on the Wii. American games for that console seem to be in short supply here. You can get your PS2 modded on the cheap and build a massive library while you're here, though.

Your TV is going to depend on what your school hooks you up with. I got lucky my first year with a 25 inch, and after pinching pennies in my 3rd year upgraded to the 40-inch Samsung HD flatscreen I'm currently rocking out with the 360.
