When applying for jobs at Hagwons, is it usual to ask to see pictures of the apartment provided? It's not something I'm massively worried about but it'd be kind of nice to have an idea of what the place is like... |

Are you coming from North America? If so, think of a cheap motel with a kitchette unit. That would be very similar to the 1-room suite that most hakwon teachers end up with.
There are exceptions but that is most common. |

Yes, definitely ask for pictures. Everyone and their brother has a digital camera, so there's no excuse for not providing photos upon request. You want to get photos that show the following:
- all important angles of the apartment, including bathroom; if there is a section that is suspiciously missing, ask why
- the view from the main window(s)
- the building from outside
- the street to the left and right of the apartment
These are what I provided for the person to replace me at a job, when they requested to see photos. |

Yes ask for pictures. I think I got very lucky myself. Probably the biggest apartment I've ever lived in. Three rooms, two bathrooms, spacious living area, big balcony, cable tv, high speed internet, nice view of a mountain, shiny hardwood floors, and it's quiet. I would maybe settle for a little less if there was more entertainment here though. |

Thanks, I was thinking that maybe if pictures aren't provided it might be a bad sign! I know it's most likely to be a very small studio place and that's absolutely fine, but it'd just be good to know it's not a complete dump |

Thats massive. I have a pretty sweet apartment now buts thats after putting in the time in a dump for my first year. I negotiated the better apartment for my second job. Did you get that place for your first job unseen? |

All of the hagwon provided places I lived in had functional but crappy air cons for free. That would definately be something I'd demand, Korean summers are pretty hot and very humid and fans just don't cut it... |
