**** update ****** see last post for asking price
Motorbike for sale, less than 8,000km, runs well, looks nice.
Has a helmet box, locks, cycle helmets
I am located in Wonju, approximately 1.2 hours southeast of Seoul, below Chuncheon and above Jecheon, just a short and enjoyable bus ride from Seoul.
The asking price is still open as it's in excellent condition for the year and rarely used. It's currently stored in a parking garage so avoiding the elements.
If you are interested, please feel free to contact me via E-mail at: [email protected]
Thanks,
Beagle

I have an over-sized leather jacket (if you are small) or a fit-just-right leather jacket for the guys/gals on the larger size. It will go with the bike to make your ride more comfortable. I will even throw in the bungee strap and handlebar covers to keep your hands dry and warm.

Do I need a special license to ride this legally? Do you have all papers and can you help with the transfer? |

No, you will not need a special license to ride this motorbike since it is 125cc's or under. I can help with the registration, no problem and the insurance can be done at the same place. I have the bike deregistered already and ready to be reregistered. |

I am a bit confused and I was a bit taken aback by this "law" (maybe Korean law had changed during my absence....so I just rang the drivers' license bureau).
What I was just informed is that 125cc bikes and under (...still confused, maybe I misunderstood the +/- 125cc...was it up to <124 and under> OR including 125?) need a "scooter" license (2 종 원동기). Any bike that is over (?) 125cc needs a motorcycle license (2 종 소형).
Though not frequently, I do see scooter riders get ticketed for not having the proper license.
Feedback anyone?

It was explained to me that a cycle license is not necessary for 125cc's and below. If you do not understand the law correctly and you are a law-abiding temporary citizen, then you should definitely have a Korean counterpart assist you and call the license bureau.
I know that if you purchase a bike the bike store owner will have the tags registered for you and is never concerned about a license as long as the bike is 125cc's or less.
Good luck!
The motorbike is still for sale and is snug and warm in the garage.
If you would like to take a small trip to Wonju and see the bike just let me know. I can pick you up at the bus station or train station almost anytime. If you come during regular Korean working hours then the bike could be registered and driven away from Wonju if you so desire.
Thanks,
Beagle |

I'm a little concerned that not posting a price has set everybody off. So, I'll succome and say that a fair asking price is around $550.00, including all above stated items. It was never used much in my possession, so I'll be taking a loss.
It's still ready to go, just give me a shout!

Thanks. |

I thought the actual displacement of the engine is usually just below
the number used to market the bike. A 125 has a displacement of 124.5 or something like that. Am I right or wrong? |

right ... 125cc isn't precisely 125 cubic centimetres ... they round it up for good measure.
i'd like to get another bike in korea ... but it won't be a daelim, that's for damn sure! |

For the record, you do have to have a license to operate a vehicle in Korea. Vehicles 125cc and below can be legally operated so long as the driver has a general Korean driver's license. This can be obtained at your provincial DMV by exchanging your foreign license and taking a test. Korea also recognizes international licenses with an M endorsement.
However, if you're caught without either of these there's a nasty fine to pay. |

sorry, can't help you about the license. If some of you believe you need a license then you should definitely make sure prior to attempting to and/or purchasing a motorbike. I happen to have a korean license, so never thought twice about it. |
