Thought i'd start a thread on some good bands you may never have heard of.

Biffy Clyro (great rock band from the UK)
Have a search on youtube for Justboy it's a classic.

Maximo Park (art/rock)
Their songOur Velocity is a real standout.

Give me a reply with some of your recommendations.

I can't believe no one mentioned Kings of Leon. Also Every Move
A Picture
is pretty kickass. I have to agree with Maximo Park. Our Velocity has been finding its way to my speakers frequently. If you want a bit of slowdown soul singing including piano check out Cat Power's latest release. And I'll throw Silversun Pickups in there as well. They remind me of old Smashing Pumpkins.

The other topics tend to be pretty serious and up tight so it's cool you guys replied.

Alot of cool bands mentioned. Silversun Pickups, Kings of Leon, Sufjan Steven's. I love these guys too.

To the person who asked: Maximo Park recently put out a new album. It's great.

Racetraitor: you gave alot of Korean? bands. I'll try and check them out. As i will with the other recommendations for other posters.

Yay!

Copy Machine's new album is finally out. They're a fantastic live band.

They'll go really well alongside Crying Nut at Pentaport and anywhere else. Really fun, lively, and creative ska-based punk-rock. Great lead singer (and he speaks English well, too).

The Sleepy Jackson sing in English, but it's still a fun challenge to understand some of their lyrics but whatever; their tunes, singing, playing, backing singing and instrumentation are all so beautiful, interesting, funked up and rocking at the same time. The best review I read of their stuff compared their latest album to a musical evocation of what an ST Coleridge poem is like.

Little Birdy's lead singer/songwriter/rythm guitarist - Katy Steele - was just voted best female performer, AND best dressed in the national Australian rock awards.

... Her brother Luke Steele - singer/songwriter/guitarist of The Sleepy Jackson - gained nominations for best male performer... AND also best dressed...!
