Sorry if this is common knowledge or something. I did a search, but couldn't find an answer.
Looking through the forums. it seems that real Fender, Gibson and other top-name guitars are rare in South Korea. Why are they so hard to come by? Is there no market for them? |

Well, they're expensive to import (due to tariffs, duties, etc.). You can buy them at Nagwon Archade, but you'll pay through the nose for the Gibsons. You might want to try e-Bay. Is there any particular reason you want these particular brands? There are some good guitars made in Korea that might interest you. Best of luck to you and your search.
Cheers! |

Thanks Harpeau. I should apologise for not being clearer in the OP: I'm not actually looking for a guitar, but reading some guitar-related threads here on Daves made me wonder about Strats and Les Pauls and Teles and SGs and the like in SK.
Anyway, thanks for filling me in. |

I understand there are some great Samick guitars made in Korea. The factory is in Incheon. My friend tells me they are pretty good.... |

| Samick has been sold down the river. They're now made in factories in China and Indonesia. It's been that way for a while. The electrics are now made at the SPE (Samick Professional Edition) close to Bupeong Station in Incheon. And yes, Samick are a pretty good make IMHO. |
