It seems many foreign teachers do those (judge/stereotype/generalize Korea) based upon their little knowledge that get from the internet, other foreigners or some Itaewon girls they meet in Itaewon bars or Hamilton Hotel, or occassional encouners they experience in the streets of Itaewon or somewhere. Please remember that the internet cyber world is not real all the time and sometimes those news articles you find on the internet are not really true, and of course Itaewon is not Korea but a foreign slum.
Actually I like the fact that we have a place called Itaewon where all foreigners hang out, drink, party, fight, or do whatever. We are so thankful that those all happen in Itaewon, not in other parts of Seoul, because we never go there. But the problem is that they consider their Itaewon experiences as their Korean knowledge and title themselves the Korean experts. Please keep it in Itaewon like the Nigerians do.
The next step is to log on this site or some other sites like this, and spew their ignorance about Korea/Koreans, and judging, stereotyping, generalizing us, saying Koreans are this, Koreans that. Most of them do not seem to realize that they have such a tiny window to the real Korea/Koreans.
Another thing that amazes me is that some posters write so many posts on this site, meaning they have plent of free time to do good things for their life in stead of wasting time on Korea unless they want to stay here permanantly. The problem with this forum is ANONYMITY is given so that posters can make hateful or ignorant posts so easily while sitting behind the computer screen. This is something that this site owner must consider. |

Why do you care so much what foreigners think of your precious Korea and Koreans...? |

except Itaewon is mostly Korean owned, with Korean whores and Korean do-nothing police.
and, remember, most foreigners don't know jack squat about korea until they come here. they soon learn first hand about korea though, from the rude people budding in front of you, to the koreans recklessly endangering other people's lives by driving with no regard for anyone else, to the Korean co-workers who show the true korean work ethic.
believe me, korea does a "wonderful" job of showing itself to the thousands of foreigners who collect a paycheque here. |

1.You can't spell.
2. I don't like Itaewon much, either, but I wouldn't go that far.
3. Hateful, ignorant posts like yours, Mr. Miserable Wretch? |

You are a good example and have proved what I said in my post was right. What you occassionally experience in the streets is not real Korea... you only keep the bad things in your memory cells and spew on the internet. And I believe you that Korea gives away money to many unqualified foreign teachers. This is something we have to consider.
By the way you spelled 'paycheck' wrong. |

1. Yes, I do. Those are typos. So do not try to use "oh you dont spell" to get me down.
2. Good for you.
3. I don't know who Mr. Wretch is. And I am not hateful. You will know if you meet me in person. |

horang, you are showing your ignorance. I am sure that some people post on here a lot because they have to spend 8AM to 5PM in their public school with nothing to do. They may teach 20 hours a week but do not need an additional 20 for prep. If they were allowed to go home sooner they might spend less time on this site. |

horang, I love the fact that people try to label ESL teachers as unqualified when not even considering that many Korean English teachers are unqualified. There are many Korean hogwon teachers that have a BA in any subject from French to pottery. Why is it that Koreans always talk about how the foreigners are unqualified? Not to mention that Korean high school teachers that speak less English than I do Korean. |

You only keep the posts that irritate you in your memory and either ignore or overlook the posts that acknowledge the better aspects of Korea, there have been some. |

Well, I suspected you were a gyopo, so I was judging/generalizing/stereotyping you as a member of that group. |

If they were allowed to go home early they would probably write more ridiculous posts. I barely have any spare time from 8 am to 6 pm, not a chance to write posts on an internet forum. If you have that much free time on your hands on week days I am sure you can do some much better, productive things. Don't blame on not being allowed to go home early. |
