Does anyone know the lay of the land at Boryung? I'm totally
into getting smashed and making a fool out of myself, but there
is no way I'm going to shell out 150,000 for some low quality, dingy
motel room. I'm not talking about a campsite. I'll pitch a tent
anywhere.

How about 1km walking down the beach in both directions? Anything
there? How about nearby mountains etc.?

If I remember correctly, there are lots available for camping. Most Korean beaches have them, don't think Daecheon would be any different.

민박,여관,호텔 are outrageously overpriced there. Camping isn't a bad alternative, granted it doesn't piss rain like it did last year. There are some cheap love hotels a ways off the main strip that can be found for around 60,000/night.

Both times I've gone I've managed to only have to shell out like 15,000 won for a place to stay. Usually have about 7-8 people sharing a Korean style hotel (여관), right next to the beach.
If you're keen on camping, head south from the main stage on the beach, back about a block and keep walking for about 10-15 minutes. There are a couple of decent size campgrounds set up. Not sure of the price, and you may well end up paying the same amount for a lot to pitch a tent as you would for a hotel with a toilet and shower.
