Hello, everyone. I'm getting information about going overseas to teach, and just wanted to know what experiences you've all had with not being selected by a prospective employer. Is it common? Should I be discouraged if I'm not hired after a phone interview? |

Don't be discouraged. You'll find a job. Demand far exceeds supply. |

It just means they found someone closer or cheaper.
30,000 jobs and 25,000 applicants each year. |

I got turned down for a job at a private company teaching adults, and I was here for the interview. It was just a highly desirable position, so lots of people applied. |

I just got turned down from EPIK no reason given. I think it was because I enjoyed our difference of opinion during our discussion on effective teaching methodologies too much. I was smiling all the time, all through the interview (I don't know why, but I really enjoyed the interview..). Probably looked like too much of cowboy, although I am actually concerned about teaching well. Had a large spot on my forehead, too. |
