I have tried twice since I have been in Korea and I just don't get it. Is my center of balance off?? Am I not thinking Korean enough ? My body will not let me allow to squat without something to hold on to. Is this a problem for some? I am in pretty good shape and the adjummas show me up at Apsan Moutain all the time.

It's just you. Didn't you learn this growing up? You are the only one. Ever.

I can't squat with my feet flat on the floor either. I have tested this with several of my friends and it seems that often big booty girls can't squat with their feet flat...........

I am another non-squatter! Didn't find this too much of a problem in Korea but finding it much more so in Turkey....

People from Eastern cultures are just more supple and seemingly people of all ages seem capable of using squat toilets, getting down to floor level and up again for mealtimes etc. We are just used to living at chair and bed level.

Im perfectly capable of squatting. Of course, I exercise daily, including stretching exercises. I eat sensible amounts and have an overall balanced diet. And, I make an effort to live a healthy life. Thus, Im capable of squatting with my feet flat on the floor. Not being over-weight really helps a lot, too.

I prefer squat toilets like the ones in Thailand, but simple holes in the floor, nah...I have no problem using them but I find the experience less than satisfactory.

You just aren't genetically superior as the Korean's. Nature selected them to be the best squatters.

I can do the squat, but I have to take off whatever article of clothing is protecting my groin from the elements.

I think Koreans are naturally more flexible. I know this is a stereotype and a generalization but since it's positive I'll sure the apologists won't get angry. Wink I think it's because they are carried around on the backs of Ajummas with their legs splayed out.

Anyway, I am sure you will find this video informative. Hee hee.

I'd say try taking your pants off and spreading your legs really far apart, then try standing up... but then there is always the chance that you'll poop all over your leg Shocked

Its not so much the squating toilets that irk me... its that lack of soap dispensers in every public restroom.
