Hi, all. I JUST found out that I have to do a demo writing class in addition to an interview this evening. This is for a part-time middle-school student gig.
Although I have alot of experience helping students with their writing, I have never had to prep strictly for a writing class.
I suppose I could get something together on my own, but I thought I should first appeal to the masses for some direction or good ideas.
Any assistance is appreciated. |

You can go to my writing folder for lots of ideas. I'd go here and have them do one of the skeletons. They can then draw a picture for their story. Put the possible answers on the board and they select. Or you can have them come up with their own depending on the level.

I would also do prewriting by using an organizer. I have many in that folder but just uploading onto my teaching folder, some really nice ones for a writing class. Use the organizer to prepare for the writing.
You can also use the 4 squares writing ideas in the ppt in the writing folder. A great simple way for students to write. They fold a piece of paper into 4 squares. topic in the middle in a box. Each square they write a point about the topic. Last sentence they end with a feeling sentence, to complete the exercise.

Thanks, DD. Just the kind of stuff I expect I'll need. |
