Can't seem to get any coconut milk for my thai-style cooking around here. Anyone know of anything that's thick and flavourless enough to make a good substitute for curries (brought 15 tins of thai curry paste with me Very Happy )? So far the best I've found is a rice drink that's OK for stretching out what little coconut milk I brought with me, but haven't seen any soy milk or shredded coconut...
Oh well, at least using enormous amounts of gochu jang makes seems make for a better flavor than the cayanne powder I used in the states.

I use coconut milk. I've found it canned or powdered at Haddon House and Hannam Supermarket. I've also made it from unsweetened coconut I've bought at the bakeries section of Bangsan Market. I was also able to get unsweetened coconut in Cheonju at the warehouse all the bakeries in town bought their ingredients at. If you don't live in Seoul why don't you ask a Korean friend to ask the local bakers where they get their stuff? The one I used to go to had lots of things that I otherwise had to travel all the way to Seoul to get: oatmeal, sprinkles, canned pie filling, rye flour, ground almonds (good for making marzipan) ...
