If I have a Canadian drivers license, is it valid to use it in Korea, or do I need to get a Korean one too? |

hehe, in Canada it's not called the DMV It's called the MTO (ministry of transportation), and thats not how you do it here.
you have to do it through CAA.
fill out this form http://www.caa.ca/english/travel/documentation/idp-app.shtml and give it to your local CAA Club. |

You can go to the DMV and exchange your Canadian licence for a Korean one. You can get it back when you leave Korea by going back with your plane ticket and passport. Very easy and costs maybe 15 000 won. |

An international driver's permit is not valid if you are residing in the country. So if you do this you cannot use it to drive in Korea if you are working here for one year. If you are here on a tourist visa its fine. Thats one of the little things that the CAA fails to tell people.
Do what the poster above said. Go down to the local DMV, the cost is closer to 5,000 won and depending where you go they either take your Canadian and you get it back when you leave or you keep them both. |
