| I've searched a while for info on this but I don't think too highly of the search function here. Is there a better time of year to shoot for in SK? Do publics only hire at certain times of the year? Is there a bad (ie less jobs posted/busy holiday/weather concerns) time of the year to go over there? Any help is appreciated. |

Public schools do the bulk of their hiring in June/July for end of August mid year start dates with another intake in Jan/Feb for the March 2 new school year start.
There is some hiring that takes place all year round for replacement teachers or previously unfilled positions (the programs didn't meet their hiring quotas).
Hakwons hire year round with a slightly raised demand in March after the new year has started and their enrollments are confirmed. |

If you have plans to work here for more than a year, and eventually move on to a public school or university then I would recommend starting either the last week of February or the last week of July (if you go the hagwon route first). Your visa will end right at the time public schools and universities begin their new semesters, so you set yourself up perfectly to get one of those jobs.
You may also want to start a month before those dates in case you want to take a vacation inbetween contracts. |
