I have some business at the US Embassy in Seoul next month. Coming up from Busan by train, I'll be arriving on a Sunday. I've never been there. Any advice on reasonable lodgings near the Embassy for the wife and I, and how best to get there? |

whats your price range? There is a place around the corner from the embassy across from the Seoul Hotel, a little yogwon called the Dong-il that ran 25k/nite but thats a long time ago.
Better bet is the Kaya Hotel, line 1 Namyeong station (1 stop south of Seoul Station) near the USO nice rooms 60k/nite, 3 stops from the Embassy. Embassy is at Jonggak station walk towards Kyobo building and keep heading towards Kyungpook palace |

Unless you are in a hurry or doing major business, the consulate is coming down to Busan in September. Ususally its every month, but they don't do it during hte summer. Save yourself the trip to Seoul. |

I have no advice about the hotel...but I was recently there for a visa interview.
They told me to be there at 8:30am....however, they also tell about 15-20 other people to be there for the same time. It's all about pulling numbers once you get in there. In fact, the windows didn't even open till about 8:45am. So don't stress if you are a few mins late. I know I was all worried about it, but some couples waltzed in at 9, even closer to 10am.
The actual interview is no more than a few mins, and you have to stand at the window to answer a few questions...not what I expected at all....it's not very private.
You will probably be there at least 2 hours though. It's a lot of waiting around while they put you through each step(paperwork, fingerprints, payment). You might wanna bring some snacks and reading material b/c you can't use a cell or mp3 player and the tv was set to arirang.
