I know of one guy in Yongsan (at the end of videogame alley), but he didn't have the greatest selection.

Does anyone know of anywhere else (including Yongsan) that I can buy burned/copied PS2 games? Specifically the English versions.

Download them from blackcats-games.net and burn them yourself. Or have a friend burn them. I have a couple of invites, but only for someone who knows how to use torrent files (so I don't get banned because of someone else's horrible ratio).

Mr. Kim?

And smogdonkey, I don't have a DVD burner. I don't think any of my friends here do either.

You should buy a burner. A top-quality LG would cost you 40,000 these days. You can buy 50 blank DVDs for 20,000. The last time I bought a copied DVD game, it cost me 15,000, but not sure what the going rate is nowadays.

Anyway, I'm not in Seoul, so sorry that I can't give you any specifics on where to go there.

The games were 8000 each, but you get one free if you buy 5, and you can probably get even better deals if you buy more.

Is the 40000 for a DVD burner a common rate even for external burners? I always thought they were much more expensive, and you were probably talking about one you can install in a PC. I have an older laptop (with USB 1.0 ports only), so would this still be an option for me?

According to this site it might work, "might' being the important word:

Yes, it will cost more for an enclosure, but it won't be terribly more expensive:

Guess it's your choice.

Thanks for the info.

I'm not so concerned about the USB thing, since I have a few other things (iPod, external HD) that are designed for USB 2.0 but work on my laptop, albeit a lot slower.

I am concerned about the price of an external DVD burner, and I'd want to be 100% sure that the one I get is capable of doing what I want it to do. Will any old DVD burner work, or do I need to look for something specific to burn PS2 games?

I actually think you'd be hard-pressed to find sth new that's not a double-layer burner, with a speed of at least 12x for writing now... unless you're going the used route (which I wouldn't recommend). Anyway, for most games (except double-layer), any old DVD burner should work.

Don't bother burning games if you don't have USB 2.0. Otherwise you could get a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card.

I though the guy at Yongsan had pretty much every game in existence?

In the middle of the mobile phone area?

I paid 5000 Won each and one free if you buy 10.

You can order them by phone too saves a trip to Seoul.

"The guy at Yongsan" I was referring to is the guy at the far end of videogame alley (I'm not sure if that's what everyone calls it, but it's the place with all the videogame stuff). I found some other guys when I went there yesterday, but one of the games I got didn't work, so I have to go back today Evil or Very Mad .

I should check out that guy you are talking about though. I'm not too familiar with the rest of Yongsan though, could you give more detailed directions?

Hey man. I used to be a member of black-cats a long time ago before they switched servers. Since then it has turned into invite only and i haven't been able to get an invite.

I know how to use torrents, i use www.araditracker.com for movies and have a 2.23 ratio. 654.41gb uploaded and 293.69gb downloaded.

i could really use a an invite to blackcats to put my DMS4 mod chip to better use.

let me know, thanks.
