Okay, here is the wrong sentence:
We walk to school for the past week.
I'd change it to:
We walked to school for the past week.
OR
We've been walking to school for the past week.
OR
We have walked to school for the past week.
OR even
We walk to school every day.
etc. etc.
Anyway, WHY is "We walk to school for the past week." wrong? I know it is wrong, but I just cannot put it into words WHY.
HELP! Please? |

The simple present can't be used when there is an explicit indication of past time reference. |

That sounds a lot fancier than what I had in my head: "You can't use the simple present if you are already using the past."
Thanks! |
