I'm a newbie teacher at a small middle school. Most of my hours are as a classroom assistant, but I get to teach solo for two hours a day with a mixed age group of the more able students. With these classes, I have control over what is taught.

After a few weeks, I'm now becoming unhappy with the lack of consistency in the lesson plans I'm making. One day it'll be summer vocabulary and questions, the next hypothetical situations, and the day after that using public safety announcements to teach should/shouldn't. I want to introduce a bit more structure to the lessons.

My idea is to buy a textbook and use this as a kind of curriculum for the extra classes. Doing so would help to keep things consistent, and would provide a good reference for review.

Can anyone recommend a suitable book, and/or suggest a good bookstore in Seoul where these type of texts are on sale?

English in Mind (Cambridge Press)

I just used this for a 4 month middle school programme at my unigwon. Its excellently laid out, the tasks are varied and interesting, and really specialised for middle/high school kids at beginner to intermediate levels. Pick up the tapes too. Only problem is its focused on British English and Britain rather than the states, but if this doesn't bother you or your class then I really recommend this book.
