This year, the organizers of the Tour De Korea have finally admitted foreign riders to the race. A few of us were asked to ride for Korean teams last year...but after preparing especially for the event (and taking time off from work)were snubbed when the organizers refused to allow foreign riders.
Here is a post about it (the original one vanished....hmmmm):

And this one starts with a letter from a crazed Korean female rider...

Anyway, they aren't going to make it easy for us again this year, but at least they'll let us race. The thing is they only want us to race as an all-foreigner team. And to be honest, there are only two of us that are committed to doing the race.
If you are curious about the race, here's the website:

We need at least four guys to sign up as a team. You don't have to do the whole tour, so if you want to show up and only do a few stages, then that's cool with us. But you have to qualify for the race before with the TDK "Pretest" so we can sign you up to the team. They already had the first pretest, and we were the only 2 foreign riders there (we qualified....meaning we finished in the main bunch). And there's another one next week. So you'd have to do the pretest and qualify; then you could do the Tour.
Should be a great race. It goes all over the place...epic stages.... There's nothing like it back home.
Let me know if your interested. |
