Hi all. I had posted a related topic earlier on this, but I contacted a recruiter from worknplay regarding the ETIS pay scale (she was very helpful btw) and she informed me that my TESL/Linguistics minor from a 4-year uni wouldn't count as a TESOL certification because it's not an actual certification.
I'm a bit put off, as it will be on the diploma and its 18 credit hours (equal to roughly 180 hrs of instruction) and from a nationally accredited university in the states.
From what I've gleaned from these forums I know that the RoK is not the most logical of nation-states by Western standards, so I'm just wondering what the actual certification states so that I can maybe persuade my linguistics dept. to put on paper and what ETIS would consider acceptable (I'm in process of asking them, but I assume some Yanks' queries in July aren't at the top of their to-do list.) Thanks all in advance. |

I might be able to help, but I need to get a clarification...

I believe you want to know what the certificate itself states or do you want to know the content areas the certification covers so they can align their information to match? That will give me a better idea about what to provide for you...Thanks |

Sorry I need to proofread more than I do.
I guess more the specific language contained in the TESOL/CELTA certification. I figure it would be rather easy get a signed letterhead explaining all the courses, but any additional info you can provide is always appreciated. Thanks. |

Why don't you send me a PM and I can give you some information that will help...The mods are pretty touchy about placing information on the borad that would be considered advertising by them...Thanks |

I had a similar problem. I'd completed a course block for ESL certification in the state of Arkansas, which consisted of 12 hours of post-grad courses in TESOL. I tried to get my public school to accept transcripts, department head letters, etc in lieu of a TEFL certificate, but no dice.
Illogical indeed! They would rather me have a certificate from a 100 hour course (online, nonetheless!) than roughly 300 hours of university work.
btw, it took me about 3 weeks to complete the course online (it could probably be done in two) and cost me less than $200. Let me know if you're interested... |
