I know it's still early yet but I'm starting to get amped for winter and I need a board. Can someone tell me where I can buy a board, bindings, pants and stuff in Seoul? I hope they sell boots in bigger sizes. Kicking myself for not bringing mine over here.
Jisan is the closest park to me. What's it like? Who else is hooking in come wintertime?
If anyone can give me some info, stoked.... |

sizes shouldn't be too much of a problem, unless you are really big. other than that, i would suggest rental unless you intend to stay a long time. I rented at a place that was just outside the resort and it was very cheap, like 13,000 per day i believe. of course, this wasn't top of the line stuff, but was still satisfied. |

Cheers for the info, Dan. Yeah, I want to buy some gear because I reckon that I might end up in Austria some time next year and I imagine that gear would be cheaper here than in Europe. My foot is a size 12, do they rent boots in that size?
What's Jisan like? Is the halfpipe any good? |

Last year I think it was towards the end of September I bought my board. I just happen to walk into a shop in Itaewon that was having a 50% off sale. The sale was only announced on their Daum cafe site. Ask a Korean that you know to check that for you, as I believe they said they have one every year. Through my wife, I found the salesman to be knowledgable asking me about my level and ect. Thus, making sure I got the right board to ride on. I got an 800.000 Won board for 400.000. I brough my bindings and boots with me from home so I did not have to worry about that. They had a cr*pload of boots, so I am sure that they have larger sizes. The store is closer to the Hangangjin subway stop than it is to the Itaewon stop. It would be nice to get a "posse" together to go boarding with (every Korean I have ever gone with could not keep up and I am just average compared to back home). Pm me if you guys want to get something together and I can have my wife organize the trips for us to go on (she won't be coming) |

My boyfriend and I bought gear last year at the end of the season for about half price at Dongdaemun. There are a few shops around the central stadium island bit with Puma, Reebok etc. I got short skis for 350,000 and size 300 ski boots (yes, I am a yetti) for about 120,000. My man got a Burton Custom 158, bindings, and really good boots (Vans) for 1.1mill, half price. We went skiing at Jisan once also. Since we live in Anyang it was only 1hr by a shuttle bus which they run for free, then 35,000 to ski, I think. The slopes are ok, but very basic, not like skiing in the French Alps where I first learned to ski!
Now is a really good time to buy stuff if you don't mind a limited selection or last years models. My boyfriend is looking at buying goggles off the net for half price too, so about 100,000 for a good pair.
If you want more help let me know. |
