Has anyone gone to either of those... I am asking though I have slightly over a year to go in Korea, but I know I am going to have to prepare for my exit, so I am planning in advance... All the information I can gather in my research would help. I know the city. I have seen the Universite de Ottawa, and I know Ottawa well enough and like it. So I'm not really asking about the city..

Carleton... where K stands for kwality.
Carleton... let your mediocrty shine.
Carleton... not everything here sucks.
(I said these in the presence of my uni's Dean of Admissions... a Carleton grad, natch... not sure how red my face was when they told me. He had a good sense of humor about it. He even added: "Carleton... where the cream rises to the middle" ) |

Carleton's also got a pretty good journalism program if you're up for that.
Not sure about U of O, though my friend did an education degree there and said the faculty seemed pretty stuffy and out-of-touch from reality of classroom management and teaching.
Ajgeddes? You a Poli Sci grad? '98 myself, which probably explains why I'm teaching OUTSIDE of Canada. Damn, I should've stayed in Journalism. |

Yeah, I am a PSCI grad, 2004, not Carleton. I was actually offered a job in Ottawa before I came here, but I wanted to come here instead. |

i went to both schools. ottawa is good, but very french, which i think would be good for you adventurer. you do speak french, yes? a pretty left wing school, at least in the social sciences. can't say anything about the edu department.
carleton is very political. eck, too pc for me. but they have an awesome tesl program, along with linguistics and journalism (as already mentioned).
what are you planning to study?

I went to Carleton and loved it... my program was small and close-knit.
What program are you interested in? Some are great, some aren't (just like most schools). |

I studied political science myself in Montreal. I am not looking to get into political science. I am interesed, perhaps, in an M.A. in psychology or something in social work. I also have a teaching certificate. Political science is interesting, but it doesn't quite pay the bills, to be honest unless you have a PHD or land a job in Ottawa. |

An M.A. in psychology. I am thinking of apply to Carelton, Concordia, Ottawa U., Lakedhead and a couple of others... I would prefer to go somewhere in Ontario, a big city rather than back to Montreal, because job prospects are better in Ontario, and I definitely like Ottawa. It is high on my list. |
