So, I'm already in Daejeon and need to find a job but all the posts I can find about working in Daejeon are about how much it sucks. Since I'm already here and need to find a job before I die of boredom, can anyone tell me of a GOOD place to work here? |

Any major university should be ok. Choongnam, Hanam, Daejeon, Paichae, Mokwon, Joongbu, all have decent conditions. After that GOOD LUCK. The hagwons in Daejeon are unreliable and not worth your time. There are very few that vould be called decent. They range from horrible to barely passable. By the end of your contract at a Daejeon hagwon you will be wishing you were dieing of boredom. Go check out Choongnam and Hanam...they have pretty large staffs and hire for the beginning of August. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that, but the negative posts about Daejeon are here for a reason. Best of luck. |

Thanks for the post. I don't know if I could get a Uni job since I have a music degree and no teaching experience. I have my hubby's huge EFL librry, but since it's on the shelf and not in my head I don't know how much good it'll do
Any advice is good now...
A recruiter has been e-mailing me and is trying to talk me into coffee and visiting a school. Has anyone heard of him?

Richard has been in Daejeon for many years. He seems a decent enough fella.
There ARE good hagwons in Daejeon. Perhaps you might consider teaching at a kindergarten instead where they have a more comprehensive curriculum? |

Thanks for the info on Richard. I feel much better and will meet with him.
I read the FAQ and other 'before taking a job' posts and I'm thinking something with the younger humans would be good for me. I don't care as much about making little bitty fluent EFL speakers as I care that they associate waygook saram and their language with fun and respect.... Plus, who doesn't like palying with crayons? |
